LAURENTIAN VALLEY — The Upper Ottawa Valley Detachment of the OPP responded to a single Commercial Motor Vehicle (CMV) collision in the early morning hours of Wednesday, July 4.

The collision occurred in the 400 block of Forest Lea Road in Laurentian Valley Township just before 3 a.m. The tractor-trailer unit was eastbound on Forest Lea Road when it left the roadway, travelled through guard posts and eventually came to rest at the bottom of an embankment. The CMV sustained extensive damage.

The driver, 40-year-old Tim Alexander of Dollard-des-Ormeaux, Quebec, was taken to hospital by ambulance with minor injuries.

As a result of the investigation he has been charged with careless driving under the Highway Traffic Act (HTA).

The CMV, which was transporting paint, began leaking fuel and paint as a result of the collision. The Ministry of the Environment was contacted to attend.
