The final item on the agenda was a consent application from Philip and Kim Leslie, to create a surplus dwelling lot, requiring a submission of two original copies of the original survey plan, an that the owner obtain and amendment of the zoning by-law to prohibit any residential uses on the lot as well as reducing any setbacks as necessary.

Burton said that it was for a ‘surplus farm dwelling’, containing the farm dwelling, eight sheds, a silo an an outdoor furnace, on 354 Magnesium Road, with the remaining land used for agricultural purpose.

Burton said there were ‘specific requirements’, to protect the agriculturally vacant land.

He also said that the owners filed an application to sever the parcels off last year.

He said that some of the sheds may “not respect the by-laws” and may require amendments, as a condition of the variance.

Councillor Mackay asked for clarification of the farm, and noted a “great big rock” on the property.

Mayor Moore asked if the parcel was going to be strictly residential and will require some of the barns torn down.

‘The size of the property would allow for farm uses.” Burton said. “With a 2 acres, you typically cannot use the property for that.”

He said that if they ever were used for livestock, they’d have to come to the Committee.

The motion was passed.

The Committee then approved the minutes of the previous meeting for January 7.

The meeting was then adjourned after 27 minutes.
