RENFREW COUNTY – The Government of Canada is providing an additional funding support to the Renfrew County CFDC under the Rural Innovation Initiative-Eastern Ontario project to fund both local and regional innovation initiatives.
As a follow-up to the February 27th, 2019 announcement from the Honourable Navdeep Bains, Canada’s Minister of Innovation, Science and Economic Development (ISED) and Minister responsible for FedDev Ontario, MP for Northumberland Peterborough-South Kim Rudd spoke about the importance of investment in innovation in rural Eastern Ontario.
The Rural Innovation Initiative-Eastern Ontario has launched under two project streams: one for Renfrew County that will focus on transitioning SMEs and communities into the new rural economy. A second stream will support rural Eastern Ontario focusing on accelerating the growth of existing innovation-driven SMEs and will be managed by the Northumberland CFDC. The combined Stream total support to for-profit recipients will not exceed $100,000.
Rural Innovation Initiative Eastern Ontario – Local Stream is non-repayable performance-based matching funding from $25,000 up to $100,000 transitioning SMEs in Renfrew County to expand business growth and adoption of advanced business innovation processes. Successful recipients may receive up to 50% of eligible costs with a minimum project size of $50,000.
Projects must demonstrate sustainability, drive prosperity and job creation/maintenance through innovation, research and development, commercialization, and business practices that work to position the region for global competitiveness, export markets, and economic diversification.
In an effort to provide support to Renfrew County businesses looking to apply to either the local or regional streams, the Renfrew County CFDC will be holding 3 information sessions throughout the county. Please see below the dates, times, locations and contact information to reserve your spot.
