The Council of the Township of Whitewater Region approved the 2022 corporate insurance renewal and direct staff to undertake a Request for Proposals in 2022 for broker services.
Treasurer Crozier said the premiums increased by 7%, higher than the predicted 5%.
“I think we should be happy with this.” he said. “There’s a lot of municipalities that are coming in at greater increases.”
“We have twelves months to make up those cost savings.”
Councillor Nicholson asked to what the extent the corporate insurance covered community events groups.
“What I understand is that the corporate insurance gives them some coverage.” he said.
“They’re specifically included in the coverage.” CAO Trembley said. “What we might want to do in the future is do a followup to ensure there’s no problem.”
“We can make sure that they know that they aren’t getting their own insurance, that they’re covered under us.”
The motion was carried.
