COBDEN — Council is nominating a La Passe woman to receive the June Callwood Outstanding Achievement Award for Voluntarism in Ontario.
Councillor Cathy Regier suggested her name.
“I’d really like to see us as a municipality (nominate someone), because we’ve got many, many volunteers throughout (the township).
“If you know (this woman), she is involved in the Beachburg Lions Club, involved with the Westmeath Recreation, I could go on and on with her countless efforts and what she has done.
“It would be well deserved and good on our part to recognize our volunteers,” Coun. Regier said.
Mayor Johnson agreed, saying, “She is relentless in volunteering.”
He further added, “We need to recognize our volunteers.”
Editor’s Note: We opted to leave out the woman`s name, hoping council can surprise her.
