WHITEWATER REGION (Cobden) — The Council Remuneration By-law sets out the remuneration provided to Council. It provides an accountable miscellaneous expenses allowance, with the limit to be used at the member’s discretion. The Mayor has $700 per annum, Reeve $500 per annum and Councillors are allocated $500 per annum each.

The Remuneration By-law also states each Councillor, Reeve, and Mayor be allocated $4 thousand per year in expenses related to conferences and conventions or any other municipal business function. In addition, a reimbursement of $100 per day, up to a maximum of four days per year, is permitted to attend the conference.

The policies which are attached to the document on the Township website, provide additional guidance with regard to conference and miscellaneous expenses. The policies set out how these expenses are handled.

The 2019 budget includes the necessary funding set out in the Remuneration By-law, which is reviewed once per Council term pursuant to the Municipal Act, and no changes were recommended.
