Department Reports reviewed at the Whitewater Region Township council meeting on April 15.
Treasurer: The township recently paid out $1,138,998 for the county and school boards levies.
Marsha Hawthorne also noted the township will also pay $2,335 to the Upper Ottawa Valley Medical Recruitment Committee for its share of the agreement.
The township has been successful in obtaining funding for six summer students. There will be one office assistant, two in the public works department, a swim instructor and an assistant swim instructor and a community ambassador.
The township will receive $2,640 towards the cost of $20,871 for five students. It received full funding of $2,875 for the ambassador.

Public works: Snow has been removed from areas where flooding could be a problem. Graders have been out removing ice from the roads and pushing back banks to allow water to escape.
Trees were cleared up along Fletcher Road near the Klaesi farm.
Steamers were used to help unthaw freezing pipes, as there were many calls for service, as well as culverts.
Half-loads have been on since March 30.

Building and Bylaw Enforcement: Construction began on the Foresters Falls library on April 13.
Three building permits were issued in April.
Paperwork is ongoing with BEI so construction can begin on the former grain mill property on the outskirts of Cobden.
Signs will be erected at Lookout, which will complete that project.

Environmental Department: The drinking water systems licences expire this June, so financial operating plans are being worked on.
Extensive budgeting is occurring so the Cobden Tourist booth can be made accessible.

Fire Department: All stations fought a house fire on Beachburg Road and Dombroskie Road. Cobden also responded to an MVC on Hwy. 17 at Greenwood Road.
Foresters Falls tanker/pumper is deteriorating rapidly. The department put in a bid to purchase a pumper in Petawawa that is now surplus.
