Counterfeit Canadian notes surface in the Upper Ottawa Valley

RENFREW COUNTY (Pembroke) — The Upper Ottawa Valley Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) is investigating after Canadian counterfeit notes in $50 and $100 denominations were passed at four area businesses in Pembroke and Laurentian Valley on the evening of January 10.

With the discovery of counterfeit money in the area the OPP would like to remind all residents and businesses to perform their due diligence when paying or accepting payment in cash.
