Court scheduled for two drivers charged with drinking-related events

On the evening of Friday January 19, 2018 members of the Upper Ottawa Valley Detachment of the OPP initiated a R.I.D.E. (Reduce Impaired Driving Everywhere) checkpoint in the City of Pembroke.
The driver of a motor vehicle was found to be under the influence of alcohol and as a result 49-year-old Scott Iverson Harris of Whitewater Region township was arrested and charged with the Criminal Code (CC) offence of driving with more than 80 mgs of alcohol in his blood
His driver’s licence was suspended for 90 days and his vehicle was towed and impounded for seven days. He was also charged under the Liquor Licence Act (LLA) and Highway Traffic Act (HTA) for driving a motor vehicle with an open container of liquor and driving a motor vehicle with no currently validated permit. He was served with Provincial Offence Notices (PON) for the LLA and HTA charges.
He was released on a promise to appear on the CC charge and is scheduled to appear at the Ontario Court of Justice in Pembroke on Tuesday, Feb. 13. 
 On Thursday, January 18 at approximately 1:25 a.m. Renfrew Detachment OPP officer PC Kyle Mask stopped to assist a motorist with their four-way flashers on stopped on the shoulder of Highway 17 near Haley Road in the Township of Whitewater Region.
The male driver had been drinking and failed a roadside alcohol screening test.
Following breath tests at the detachment Riley Hennessy, 22 of Whitewater Region, was charged with care or control of a motor vehicle over 80 mgs.
He was released on a promise to appear in court in Renfrew on Wednesday, February 7.
