WHITEWATER REGION (Cobden) — Robert Simpson of Beachburg drives a 1929 Shay Ford Replica.
It was just one of many vehicles at the Cobden Cruise Night in the parking lot of Country Kitchecn on Hwy. 17 just easy of Cobden last Thursday evening.
It has a Shay fibreglass body and a Ford Pinto drivetrain, Mr. Simpson said.
He has owned the vehicle for three years.
“I love Model A’s, but this is a lot better model,” he said.
Cruise Night Organizer Eric Dagg said the cruise nights started a few years ago at Logos Land. However, this is the fourth year at Country Kitchen.
There are usually about 25 vehicles, but depending on the weather, there could be more or less, he said. On this cloudy Thursday, there are less than 20.
Lucy Kingsbury came from Shawville in 1972 Mustang, which she has owned for about 10 years. It’s strictly driven in the summer, she said, as she shows at many of the summer car shows.
Mr. Dagg invites everyone to come and check out the vehicles. The owners are quite happy to talk about their toys. Cruise Night is from 6 to 8 p.m. There is a 50/50 draw.
The Thursday dates for this year are July 6 and 20; August 3, 17 and 31 and the final date is September 14.
