WHITEWATER REGION (Cobden) – The Cobden Fair is quickly approaching and so are the deadlines! The event is Aug. 24, 25, and 26 – and there’s something for everyone.
Advanced passes are on sale but only until Thursday, August 23. They are available at Rooney’s, M & R Pembroke, Scotiabank Cobden, and the Cobden Agricultural Hall Office.
Each year, there are many participants in various capacities – whether it be in the senior or junior halls, in the varied livestock shows, the demolition derby or the horse-pulling.
Can you imagine what it would be like if every person in Whitewater Region were to enter at least one item in the exhibit halls? Or if even half of us entered a car in the derby? What about pitting your cattle, rabbit, sheep against your neighbor?
This is all possible at the Cobden Fair!
Livestock registrations are extended to allow for in-person registration. However, all 4-H exhibitors must indicate to the office of participation before the day of the event.
You should have your items you have prepared, or maybe still preparing, for the senior and junior halls and field crop almost completed.
There’s something for everyone to participate in – let’s fill the hall to bursting.
You can drop your exhibits off on Wednesday, Aug. 22 between 6 and 8:30 p.m. or Thursday morning between 8:30 and 10:30.
The senior and youth fair exhibits are in the curling club building while the field crop exhibits are in the arena.
During the fair, the exhibit hall will be open Friday and Saturday from 10 a.m. until 9 p.m. and on Sunday until 3 p.m.
Exhibits must be picked up on Sunday, Aug. 26 between 4 and 6 p.m.
For the children who want to show-off their pets, the Pet Show is Saturday, Aug. 25 at noon. Registration is just before the event begins.
The demolition derby registration is still open ad online entry is available. The deadline for pre-registration is Thursday, August 23. Day-of registrations will be accepted up until the afternoon of the derby, as long there is adequate time for inspection at the discretion of the officials. The derby is Saturday night, Aug. 25.
The horse pulling – Good Time Pulling – registration is between 8 to 10 a.m. on Sunday, Aug. 26. The event begins an hour later.
