Treasurer Sean Crozier presented the 2022 Draft Budget.

“It’s been a pretty good long road to get here.” Treasurer Crozier said.

There were now comments or requests to speak at the public meeting.

He said there will be a 3.5% tax levy with a 1.5% cost of living allowance, five road projects and a total capital investment of $3,240,636, as well as $331,385 for special projects.

He said that there would be a ‘slight increase’ in building and planning fees, and recreational vehicles.

Landfill fees are to move to weight when the scale project was complete.

Water costs impact for the increase was a $1.72 for the 2% increase, and wastewater was a $5.75 increase.

He also said they were looking for nine summer student positions.

He said the by-law would be adopted January 19.

Councillor Jackson offers congratulations:

Councillor Olmstead asked if the Township was “outpacing our projected growth rates” for water.

“It appears to the naked eye we’re having some good growth, but do you think it will outpace the costs.”

“The growth is happening, it is great.” Crozier said. “I think for the water and wastewater, any growth will help. I will say on the taxation part, as we’re growing and there’s assessment, there’s a lot of assessment that’s being reduced, and I think we’re in a spot where the assessment reduction is more than the assessment.”

“What I would say is ‘stay tuned’”.

The motion was carried.
