The Renfrew Detachment of the OPP investigated 218 calls for service.

Domestic Violence

Arnprior and Renfrew officers investigated 9 domestic disputes during the past week.

  • One male was charged with, assault,
  • One male was charged with two counts of assault,
  • One male was charged with fail to comply with undertaking conditions,
  • One female was charged with assault

Impaired Driving

On Sunday, March 24, an officer with the Renfrew Detachment was conducting traffic enforcement in the town of Renfrew and conducted a traffic stop on Raglan Street South. As a result of the investigation Kyle Olmstead, 37 years old of Whitewater Region, has been charged with impaired driving and driving with over 80mg. He was released on a promise to appear on Wednesday, April 1 at the Ontario Court of Justice in Renfrew.

Fraud

On Tuesday, March 19, after a multiple month investigation, Renfrew Detachment has charged Matthew Richard, 27 years old of Horton Township, with 12 counts of Fraud under $5000.

The investigation commenced in January when the officer received information of the accused posting items for sale online. Once the items were paid for the accused would not provide the item to the buyer.

The Renfrew OPP is reminding the public to be sure of the purchases they make online. If you are purchasing from sites such as kijiji, ebay etc., make sure to use a secure payment option such as pay pal or provide the money once you have received the item. For in person transactions consider meeting in a public place.

Theft

On Friday, March 22, officers responded to a theft call from a business in the Town of Renfrew. As a result of the investigation, Joshua Ramsay, 32 years old of Renfrew, has been charged with Theft under $5000. He was released on a promise to appear and will appear in the Ontario Court of Justice in Renfrew on Wednesday, May 1.

Traffic Enforcement

On Tuesday, March 19, an officer with the Renfrew detachment was conducting traffic enforcement on Highway 17, in McNab/Braeside Township. As a result of a traffic stop Cole ,Bennett, 20 years old of McNab/Braeside Township was issued a summons for race a motor vehicle, excessive speed and will appear in the Ontario Court of Justice on Friday, April 12.

Also on that date, an officer with the Renfrew detachment was conducting traffic enforcement on Highway 17, in McNab/Braeside Township. As a result of a traffic stop Marc-Antoine Perron, 23 years old of Ottawa, was issued a summons for race a motor vehicle, excessive speed and will appear in the Ontario Court of Justice on Friday, May 10.
