 Drugs, cash seized after Renfrew OPP traffic stop

RENFREW COUNTY (Renfrew) — On Saturday, November 9 at approximately 12:30 a.m., members of the Renfrew Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police conducted a traffic stop on the driver of a pickup truck that was travelling on Calabogie Road, in the Township of Greater Madawaska.

As a result of this traffic stop, police located and seized a large quantity of cash, drugs and drug paraphernalia. One person has been charged with Criminal Code (CC), Controlled Drugs and Substances Act (CDSA), Cannabis Control Act (CCA), Cannabis Act (CA) and Highway Traffic Act (HTA) charges as a result of the investigation.

Pierre Brochu, age 64 of Tay Valley Township, has been charged with the following offences:

  • Possession of Proceeds Obtained by Crime Over $5000 CC
  • Possession of a Schedule 1 Substance For The Purpose of Trafficking CDSA
  • Possession of a Schedule ll Substance For the Purpose of Trafficking CDSA
  • Possessing Cannabis For The Purpose of Selling, Cannabis Act
  • Drive Vehicle or Boat With Cannabis Readily Available CCA
  • Driving While Under Suspension, HTA
  • Class G1 Licence Holder Unaccompanied by Qualified Driver, HTA

The accused was held pending a bail court hearing at the Ontario Court of Justice, Pembroke.
