Elderly woman attacked in her Beachburg home

BEACHBURG — An elderly, Beachburg woman is recovering following an attack in her home.
WhitewaterNews.ca has agreed not to publish the woman’s name.
The woman, who is a mom and grandmother, suffered bruising and is sore, but was released from hospital, a family member said.
WhitewaterNews.ca was told there was an arrest. However, by press time, the Upper Ottawa Valley Detachment of the OPP had not released any information.
The woman’s daughter said her mom opened the door just a bit to see who it was, and was taken by surprise when the person pushed himself in.
When it was safe, the woman ran to a neighbour’s home seeking assistance, the daughter said.
The police say they are currently investigating this break, enter and robbery with violence at a residence in Beachburg, which occurred around 10 p.m. on Nov. 16.
The victim answered the door and an unknown male forced his way into the residence and assaulted the elderly female resident, the police report. The victim was transported to hospital.
Members of the Upper Ottawwa Valley Crime Unit, the Emergency Response Team, the K9 unit and the Identification Unit attended the scene to investigate.
