Treasurer Crozier said that this section included fire, byline enforcement, policing.

He said Fire expenses would increase by $125,300, though he said he “had not factored in the volunteer fire fighter hours as that becomes very difficult.”

He said the wages line item for Fire of $81,000 included the deductions for statutory duties.

Policing was decreased by $34,665 and was based on an invoice sent by the OPP, Crozier said.

Councillor Tabbert asked for the total number of wages that was budgeted for, which Crozier provided was $402,100.

Mayor Nicholson asked how many training or maintenance hours for volunteers firefighters are budgeted for.

Treasurer Crozier said that 1800 incident hours, 2640 training hours, 500 maintenance hours, and 3800 mandatory training ours, for at total of 8,740 total hours.

Fire Chief John McLaren said that the training hours were due to all firefighters requiring Level 1 training, and many had to be trained to Level 2 “to maintain our standard of service”.

McLaren said that 40 firefighters required the Level 1 training due to being new hires.
