Whitewater Region council passed a bylaw noting that Ryan’s Maintenance Inc., which is located in the township’s Industrial Park, must put up a sign at each tap within its facility that states the water is non-potable and not drinkable.
Chief Administrative Officer Christine FitzSimons said she will have Entrepreneur Co-ordinator Andrew Kenny check all the businesses within the Industrial Park that are hooked up to the water supply, ensuring signs have been posted at each tap stating the water is not drinkable.
Councillor Dave Mackay said it should be up to the companies to ensure the signs are up.
However, Mayor Hal Johnson noted since the water is the responsibility of the township, it must ensure the signs are posted.
