The parents of students of schools in the Renfrew County District School Board, will receive this letter.

Dear Families,

We wanted to let you know the Renfrew County District School Board received an information memo from the Education Quality and Accountability Office (EQAO) regarding the upcoming EQAO assessments. As you may know, EQAO is the agency responsible for standardized testing in Ontario. EQAO assessments measure student achievement in reading, writing and mathematics in relation to Ontario Curriculum expectations.

EQAO has advised us they will NOT be sending assessment materials to schools experiencing job action.

Therefore, Grade 3 and Grade 6 testing will NOT be taking place in our school at this time.

This includes all elementary schools in the English-language public system. The assessments were scheduled to take place between May 25 and June 5, 2015 in all Grade 3 and Grade 6 classes. EQAO indicated they will continue to monitor the situation and if circumstances change, there may be an opportunity for students to complete the assessment later in the school year.

Even though the EQAO assessment may not be administered in RCDSB elementary schools at this time, we continue to support our students’ achievement and well-being in our classrooms each and every day.
