WHITEWATER REGION — On Monday, the Upper Ottawa Valley saw a series of power outages, some of which lasted overnight for a total of 16 hours.
Hydro One saw approximately 15.5 thousand customers needing power restoration and at 6:10 p.m. on Monday, Hydro One issued an update on Twitter.
They stated, “the suspected cause of the outage affecting Pembroke and Cobden is a tree on the high voltage line. Crews are working as quickly as possible to restore power.”
The company investigated the outage and came to a conclusion late on Monday night. Hydro One then tweeted another update at 10:06 p.m. which said, “Crews are working to make the area safe before removing the tree from the line. Repairs could take several hours as the tree caused significant damage. Thank you for your continued patience while we work to restore power.”
Ottawa River Power Corporation continued to keep customers updated on their Twitter account, but have yet to issue another since 9:28p.m. on Monday night.
Their update stated, “(Beachburg): The supply from Hydro One continues to have issues after the first restoration attempt. No firm ETR from Hydro One available, anywhere between 1-3hrs.”
At 6:32 a.m. on Tuesday, Hydro One tweeted their final update stating, “All power has been restored after a tree fell on our high voltage transmission line. Thank you for your patience while our crews worked to complete these repairs.”
