False report leads to charges

PETAWAWA — In early April, the Crime Unit of the Upper Ottawa Valley Detachment of the OPP began investigating after a significant theft of money was reported. The alleged victim advised police that a sizeable sum of cash, which had been collected for a minor hockey event, had been stolen from his motor vehicle. Through investigation police determined that the reported theft did not occur.

As a result of this incident Michael Edward Landry, age 37 of Petawawa, has been charged with theft over $5,000 and public mischief under the Criminal Code.

He was arrested on Friday, April 12 and released on a promise to appear at the Ontario Court of Justice in Pembroke on , May 21.
