Fatality on Hwy. 17 in Whitewater Region

WHITEWATER REGION — A 51-year-old man was killed and two other people injured following a head-on collision in Whitewater Region Township on Easter Monday afternoon.
On Monday, March 28, a two-vehicle head-on collision resulted in the death of an Ottawa man and his daughter being critically injured. The 2 p.m. accident occurred on Hwy. 17 just west of Greenwood Road between a westbound Chevrolet pick-up truck and an eastbound Hyundai SUV. Hwy. 17 was closed for several hours, re-opening around midnight.
Troy Tofflemire, 51 and a passenger in the Hyundai, was pronounced dead at the scene and his 19-year-old daughter Dani was airlifted to Ottawa Civic Hospital in critical condition. Ms. Tofflemire is a student at Algonquin College enrolled in the Child and Youth Care Program.
The 33-year-old driver of the pick-up truck was transported by ambulance to Pembroke Region Hospital with serious injuries.
While it was raining at the time, the cause of the investigation still remains under investigation.
