WHITEWATER REGION — The Whitewater Region Fire Department issued a fire ban on Thursday, May 21 due to the dry conditions.

“With yet another brush fire this evening, it has been decided that a full fire ban will be in effect starting tomorrow morning and remain until such time as we get a significant rainfall,” wrote Fire Chief Guy Longtin in a post on the Whitewater Region Fire Department’s Facebook page on Wednesday, May 20.

The fire department would like to remind residents “big fires start small. A simple spark from a campfire can ignite an entire forest.” Fire permits and renewals are not being issued at this time.
