Dinner en Blanc at Pembroke Waterfront raised $50 thousand for Child Poverty Action Network (CPAN)

RENFREW COUNTY (Pembroke) — Pembroke followed in the footsteps of cities such as Paris, London, Vancouver and Toronto by hosting a Dinner en Blanc in which guests come out dressed in white to enjoy fine food and wine.

Guests were treated to a gourmet five course meal with a menu created by Le Cordon Bleu Ottawa and prepared by local chefs.  Chef ILan Dagan from Cordon Bleu, who attended the event commented that the meal was exceptional. Local chefs were led by Ullrich’s and included representatives from Wilkies, The Cottage Cup, Whitewater Brewing Company and the Kitchen Eatery and Catering Company.

With 160 attendees at the event, Michel Gauthier, executive director of the Canadian Tulip Festival was very impressed with the talent which was a part of this performance. The entertainment featured various local singers and dancers performing throughout dinner, exceptional performances by Pembroke Pole Fitness and a fire weaver. The entertainment portion of the evening was capped off by a fireworks display put on by Capital Pyrotechnics.

Jimmy Lapointe and his family were the major sponsor and donated a 2019 Toyota C-HR. Raffle tickets were sold throughout Renfrew County and the lucky winner of the new car, an Ottawa Valley resident from Renfrew, was announced during the event. The committee’s goal was to raise $20 thousand and was far surpassed as the event raise over $50 thousand.

Pembroke Mayor, Mike Lemay, who supported the efforts in the planning of this event, was also was in attendance on Friday evening. Dinner En Blanc will be an annual event. The location of the event and the charity supported will change each year.
