WHITEWATER REGION — MPP John Yakabuski and Mayor Moore invite affected residents to attend a public meeting and information session at the Westmeath Rink on Sunday, June 23 at 9:00 a.m. The session will include presentations from the Ottawa River Regulation Secretariat, Ontario Power Generation and Ministry of Municipal Affairs & Housing.

Three other sessions are also being organized for that weekend at other locations in Renfrew County and open to Whitewater Region residents.

Flood debris is accepted at no charge at the landfill at 990 Kohlsmith Road during regular hours of operation (Wednesday and Saturday from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m.). Waste bins for flood debris are deployed in two impacted areas, but no longer available at the Westmeath Garage and LaPasse Boat Launch. Sandbags are accepted at the landfill and can also be deposited at the location where they were picked up or the Westmeath Garage. Individual owners may also procure their own bins at their own costs.

The Westmeath & District Recreation Association (WDRA) Flood Recovery Resource Committee continues to coordinate and prioritize resources for those in need on behalf of the Township.

We ask those who wish to volunteer or self-identify for support to contact Committee Member Vince Gervais, visit the Relief Centre at the arena, or fill out the request form on Team Rubicon’s website at https://forms.gle/ufPueCQUokjXLDWe9.

Emergency repairs continue to impacted municipal roads to ensure access. Engineers are reviewing requirements for reconstruction, which is needed by the municipality to apply for provincial capital funding.
