COBDEN — Dale McTavish, the owner of the recently relocated Cobden Jr. B franchise in the CCHL2 League and owner and head coach of the Pembroke Lumber Kings, has announced that Kevin Ready will serve as General Manager of the Cobden Junior B franchise.
Ready, a Valley native, has been involved in hockey in the area for a number of years, most recently with the Upper Ottawa Valley Midget AA Aces program from 2012 to 2015.
Prior to that, Ready coached for a number of years in Boucherville, Quebec. Ready served as General Manager for the Pembroke Lumber Kings from 1995 to 1999 and he also served as the Eastern Ontario scout for the Belleville Bulls of the Ontario Hockey League from 1997 to 2000.
In his first move as General Manager, Ready announced that Daryl Faught will serve as Head Coach of the team. Faught, a Cobden native, has had a very successful career, particularly in the development of players in the Muskrat Minor Hockey program for almost 30 years. Faught has also had very successful coaching stints with the Ottawa Valley Titans AAA Program from 2006 to 2010. Faught also has experience coaching at the Junior B level, having served as Head Coach for the Shawville Jr. B team from 2002 to 2004. Most recently, Faught has turned his attention to the Upper Ottawa Valley Aces AA Program, where he has enjoyed unprecedented success, winning the Midget League Championships in 2010, 2014 and 2015. The 2010 team was ranked the top Midget AA team in Ontario.
More information will be forthcoming in the coming weeks as details are still being finalized regarding the team’s name and the completion of a working agreement with the Township of Whitewater Region.
