RENFREW COUNTY (Pembroke) — The Pembroke Petawawa District Community Foundation (PPDCF) recently gave out five grants at the Annual General Meeting (AGM). This was held at Giant Tiger in Pembroke on June 4.

Eligible registered charitable applicants submitted letters of intent by February 28, with full applications that were due by March 15. All applications were reviewed and selected based on the criteria mandated by the PPDCF.

The successful candidates were announced as follows for the General Grant: $1,000 was awarded to the Community Resource Centre Inc. (Killaloe), $1,000 to the #638 Algonquin Squadron (Pembroke), $1,000 to Streetlight Theatre Company, $1,000 to Eganville & District Senior Citizens Needs Association, and $1,000 to Arnprior-Braeside-McNab Seniors at Home Program Inc. (Bereavement Grant).

Eligible organizations can apply for up to $1,000 through the General Grant or the Bereavement Grant on annual basis. The Foundation Grant is used to support needs in the community. The Bereavement Grant is used in connection with bereavement initiatives.

Organizations applying for funds must have a charitable number, or be a qualified donee as recognized through the Canada Revenue Agency. Application forms are available on their website.

Their annual grants tend to cover expenses organizations can’t get covered by other grants. It’s amazing to see how impactful these grants can be for the benefit of many in the community.

The grants are made possible through the investment of funds which earn interest throughout the year. The principle of these funds is not touched, so that every year they can continue to

generate grants for the community.

Individuals who have endowment funds with the Foundation also have the opportunity to direct their funds to assist with community causes.
