Witnesses to suspected impaired drivers are encouraged to call 9-1-1. The OPP consider impaired driving a life-threatening emergency! Provide as much detail as you can about the vehicle, licence plate, location and direction of travel.
Did you know the only exception to the distracted driving law for the public is in an emergency to call 9-1-1? It is legal if you can safely do so, otherwise pull over and make the call.
We do not encourage people to make a citizen’s arrest for public safety reasons.
