OPP officers conducting speed enforcement during the past week laid four stunt driving charges.
On Monday, January 16 at 10:15 p.m. Provincial Constable Tony Gardiner stopped a driver travelling in excess of 50 km/hr above the posted speed limit on South McNaughton Road in the Township of Admaston Bromley.
Brandon Asselin, 19, of the Township of Whitewater Region, was charged with stunt driving.
Also on Monday evening at 10:39 p.m., Provincial Constable Troy Dobbie stopped a vehicle on Lisgar Avenue in Renfrew travelling in excess of 50 km/hr above the posted speed limit.
Hannah Knight-Locke, 17, of McNab Braeside Township, was charged with stunt driving at the scene.
On Friday, January 20 at 9:12 a.m., Provincial Constable Dallas MacLeod was patrolling on Division Street in McNab Braeside Township when he observed a vehicle travelling in excess of 50 km/hr above the posted speed limit.
Ashley Campbell, 29, of Braeside was charged with stunt driving.
On Saturday, January 21 at 11:08 a.m., Sgt. Derek McLeod of the Highway Safety Division stopped a driver for speeding on Pembroke Street in Cobden, which is also the portion of Highway 17 that travels through the Village, where the speed limit is reduced to 50 km/hr.
Janet Trebinskie, 33, of Pembroke was charged with stunt driving at the scene.
All drivers charged received an immediate seven-day licence suspension and seven-day vehicle impoundment at roadside.
If convicted of the charge penalties include fines from $2,000 to $10,000 and the courts can impose a driver licence suspension of up to 10 years for a second conviction within 10 years.
There is also the accumulation of six demerit points, a maximum licence suspension of two years for a first conviction and a maximum six months in jail.
