PEMBROKE — Community Living Upper Ottawa Valley has been awarded the four year CQL Person-Centered Excellence Accreditation, With Distinction from CQL | The Council on Quality and Leadership, announced executive director Chris Grayson. This award confirms that the organization shares CQL’s vision for person-centered solutions to improve the quality of life for people receiving supports and services.

This is the third Accreditation Community Living has undergone and each time it has stimulated the organization in striving to provide better supports and education to enhance the lives for the people it supports and the community as a whole, Mr. Grayson said.
“We would not have been successful without the input from all members particularly people supported who graciously shared their stories,” he said.

Debbie Cavers, lead reviewer for this accreditation process, said, “This accreditation confirms that the services being provided meet with the high quality, high standards and high expectations expected by the agency. This is as high an accreditation as you can get.”

When Community Living Upper Ottawa Valley partnered with CQL to pursue accreditation, it undertook a rigorous process to review and improve services and supports. Community Living Upper Ottawa Valley’s efforts were focused on empowering the people who receive support from their organization to make choices in how they live their lives … where they work, where they live, how they create a community.

Community Living Upper Ottawa Valley has been awarded CQL accreditation as a result of demonstrating proficiency in the following areas:
• Basic Assurances ( ensuring fundamental safeguards related to health, safety and human security)
• Personal Outcome Measures® (supporting and empowering people to achieve their goals and dreams)
• Person-centered Excellence (demonstrating organizational commitment to continued enhancement of systems directly related to person-centered services)

Cathy Ficker Terrill, President and CEO of CQL, stated, “CQL is extremely proud of Community Living Upper Ottawa Valley for achieving Person-Centered Accreditation, With Distinction. Their commitment to quality sets them in an elite group of support providers.”

For more than 40 years CQL has been a leader in raising the bar for human service organizations and systems to continuously define, measure and improve the quality of life of all people.
