Fulda to Koblenz, Germany

Today we were able to sleep in a little due to the party last night and the fact that we were only travelling 250 km today. However it was so hot and muggy with no air conditioning and just a big window the size of a garage door that opened up onto a busy road which started at about 5:30 am didn’t allow me to sleep in.

More roads going through small villages with small streets, curvy forests and rolling hills. Amazing!!!

As we were travelling through one larger area we went through a tunnel – well it has been a standing occurrence the two australians have made some noise whenever we go through a tunnel or they see a pretty girl or young girl on the street. Revving of the engines on Mike’s part (they gave the loudest rental to the man who is young at heart) and Sam who has a rented bike as well that was decorated like a police bike with sirens and flashing blue lights. I was laughing so hard as we were going through the tunnels listening to these two guys I almost couldn’t see for the tears rolling down my cheeks. They are absolutely hilarious and of course once they start there are some that join them and others that I am sure are quite disgusted. LOL.

We stopped for lunch at a very quaint little town right at the town square it seemed. Another bike group was there from the ride and we kind of took over the centre of town. The nice little outside back courtyard cafe was adorable and the food was amazing. I had quiche florentine with salad – delicious.

After lunch it was not too far to the hotel but Geertz who is the Director of the Posse Ride stopped us on the road and guided us into a wonderful old castle or estate. It was gorgeous – the old walls and the old house along with the old man that occupied and served us some cold drinks while we admired the surroundings.

Once our thirst was quenched off to the hotel with a few more wonderful roads and then some traffic before locating our hotel right along the Reine!!! Supper was delicious! Then after supper a few of us decided we would walk to the old part of town to see if there was going to be a place to watch the ‘football’ or ‘soccer’ as we call it tomorrow night as Germany is playing. These cobblestone villages are so amazing it is hard to imagine living in an area full of such history – I am sure the people take it for granted and probably enjoy all the new architecture elsewhere. It seems there is a large immigration of the asian people as well into Germany and the food, bars and smoke bars are now catering to the asian people as well.

Back from the walk and getting ready for tomorrows ride with the local HOG Chapter where I hope to see more castles and great views.
