PEMBROKE — Renfrew-Nipissing-Pembroke MP Cheryl Gallant was pleased to announce that the Federal Government has announced a new call for proposals under the Enabling Accessibility Fund’s (EAF) Community Accessibility Stream.
“Many of our communities have seen the benefits of the Enabling Accessibility Program, most recently in Cobden at the Whitewater Regional Office,” said MP Gallant. “This current call for proposals focuses on making improvements for children, veterans, and seniors with disabilities. I encourage all those interested to apply and help improve the accessibility of our community’s buildings, playgrounds, and public spaces.”
Through the Community Accessibility Stream, priority will be given to projects that enhance access for children with disabilities, veterans with disabilities, or seniors with disabilities, she explained.
The EAF supports community-based projects across Canada that improve accessibility, remove barriers, and enable Canadians with disabilities to participate in and contribute to their communities, MP Gallant said. The EAF was established in 2008 to help fund small projects in communities across Canada to improve physical accessibility for persons with disabilities. Between 2008 and 2010 the program provided funding to hundreds of accessibility projects across Canada.
If you are interested in applying or you would like more information on eligibility or on how to apply please visit MP Gallant’s website, cherylgallant.com, and click on ‘Enabling Accessibility’ under the ‘Programs’ tab.
