Treasurer Crozier went through the General Government section of the budget.

He said that the $25,000 from 2022 is for tax writeoffs, and went to 40,000 for 2023.

He said they had a ‘significant writeoff’ in 2021 that ‘is why the two-year average got skewed’

He said the Council budget expenses increased by $40,900, which he said was mostly due to the increase in wages by $14,100, and funding for Conferences by $23,500.”

“When the new council came in, there were some changes to the roles, which led to some adjustments.” he said.

He said that Administration budget decreased by $27,170, and the admin building decreased by $8,600.

He said that there was also an increase of $150 for Hawkers and Peddlers.

“I know how you pointed it out, how the media like to play on this.” Councillor Olmstead said. “Council did not receive a $21,000 pay increase (in the pay line item), if you look at that it also includes conferences, where it wasn’t used in the past.”

Councillor Moore asked if the amount for flags should be increased from the proposed $2500.

“Flags are flags, and they come with their issues.” Treasurers Crozier said. “We certainly can look at this.”

Clerk Carmen Miller said that it was $1600 to replace the big flag at Memorial hall. “The little flags are a dime a dozen, they’re not nearly as onerous to replace.”
