PEMBROKE – Once again, the the Pembroke Memorial Centre will be graced with the presence of a WWE Hall of Famer when Great North Wrestling rolls into town on Friday, May 25 at 7:30 p.m.
This event, which has very special tickets prices of $2 for children 16 and under and $5 for adults, will feature WWE Hall of Famer Tony Atlas, a Virginia native who is a former ‘Mr. USA’ bodybuilding champion and was part of the first black WWE Tag Team champion team with partner Rocky ‘Soulman’ Johnson (the father of Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson) in the 1980’s. In addition to his time in the WWE, he has also starred in such promotions as National Wrestling Alliance World Wide/Mid Atlantic, World Championship Wrestling (WCW), the NWA’s Jim Crockett Promotions, the World Wrestling Council (WWC), World Class Championship Wrestling (WCCW), and the American Wrestling Association (AWA). He has also recently appeared in the WWE as a manager and as a cast member of the television show Legend’s House. He will be taking on ‘The Prodigy’ Nathan Banner, a 6’6”, 300-lb alumnus of Florida Championship Wrestling.
Also appearing on the card is Canadian Heavyweight Champion Pierre-Carl Ouellette, also a former 3-time WWE Tag Team champion and WCW Hardcore champion, who will defend his title against 3-time former champion Hannibal “The Death Dealer” who Oulette won the title from in Rockland, ON in November.
In women’s action, Lady Yasmine will defend the GNW Women’s Championship of Canada against Toronto’s Jessie Mac. The Ottawa Valley’s own Jebediah Tatum will face The Bruiser and 2 Canadian Champion Jeremy Prophet will answer a challenge from British up-and-comer Ad Hutchinson, among other matches.
