Helen Kathleen Good (nee Briscoe) of Eganville passed away peacefully Saturday, March 21 at 72 years of age in Nanaimo, British Columbia. Loving wife of Dr. Brian Good and mother of Geoff (Jane) and Keith (Jenny) of Eganville and Colleen (Bill) of Etobicoke. “Nana” will be missed by grandchildren Scott, Josh, Claire, Everton, Thomas and Gracie. Predeceased by her parents, Thomas and Leonora Briscoe of Pembroke. Dearly loved by her brothers Roger (Bea) and Murray (Zillah). Helen’s life balanced leisure and service to others, which gave her immense pleasure. She graduated from the Kingston Psychiatric Hospital nursing school. In Kingston, she met Brian, the love of her life. They spent a few years in Haliburton, where they made lifelong friends and then returned to the Ottawa Valley and made Eganville their home. Helen and Brian spent time building a family, volunteering in their community, playing golf, finding adventure through travel and bike trips, and enjoying music and theatre. Helen had a strong faith and was an active member of St. John’s Anglican Church for 45 years. Helen was a friend to all. She was a vibrant member of her community and a “social force” who could engage anyone in conversation. She had endless energy for connection and hospitality. Her generosity knew no bounds, there was always room for one more at the table or time to reach out to others going through a difficult time. Helen tirelessly fundraised for many causes and communities. She touched so many near and far and leaves us with a legacy of love and faith. A celebration of a life well lived will be held in the summer, with the date and time to be determined.
