If you were on social media at all on Sunday and Monday, March 12 and 13, you would have seen people writing about not being a robot, tired of picking store fronts and trees, cars and rivers, pick-up trucks and streets signs.
These were the hundreds of people voting for Cobden to make it into the top 2 of Kraft Hockeyville.
Chris Pleau, who spearheaded the nomination for the Cobden arena, said the announcement of which two arenas out of 10 made it to the final voting event will be announced on Saturday, March 18.
“Cobden may be in the Top 2 for Kraft Hockeyville,” he said. “If we are successful and advance, it is a very short time frame we are dealing with, approximately 10 hours from announcement to the start of the final voting.”
The Top 2 each receive $100,000. However, the Top 1 will also have an NHL pre-season hockey game.
Mr. Pleau said there will be major changes to the Astrolabe Arena in Cobden is successful in winning one of the $100,000 prizes, such as making it accessible to everyone.
He encourages people to watch social media for the announcement. If Cobden is in the Top 2, voting begins at 9 a.m. Sunday, March 19 and ends 15 hours later, at 11:59 a.m. on Monday, March 20.
