When these two mayors met at an event in Cobden on Saturday, it wasn’t hard to tell what they were discussing — Highway 17. Whitewater Region Township Mayor Hal Johnson (left) wants the construction of the highway to continue on its westerly path from its current location outside of Arnprior. Petawawa Mayor Bob Sweet believes it should continue in a westerly direction from near Petawawa. The two were seen heavily in discussion at the New Year’s Levee hosted by Renfrew-Nipissing Pembroke MPP John Yakabuski and MP Cheryl Gallant Saturday afternoon at the Cobden Agriculture Hall. whitewaternews.ca was there to capture our mayor’s expressions as he fights for what he believes is best for his municipality.
