If the world is your oyster

I love oysters but haven’t eaten them in quantity in years. I just can’t bring myself to pay 3 loonies an oyster. I got spoiled in Biloxi, Mississippi more than a decade ago attending a conference. Next to our hotel was a non-descript seaside restaurant with oysters on the half shell selling for either 25 or 35 cents an oyster. Naturally, being a gourmand, I would order dozens at a time, pure heaven for an oyster lover.
Fast forward to Labour Day Saturday, Sep 2, 2017, I am going to do it again and I am inviting all my oyster loving readership. It’s our Maritime Kitchen Party featuring Searson, a great Celtic duo and World Champion Shucker, Jason Nagy. Jason will be personally shucking your oyster in record time. Add “peel em and eat em” shrimp and you have a wonderful evening.
The going rate is $3/oyster but we are doing $2/oyster (by the dozen) with advance reservations. These oysters are fresh from the Maritimes. Call 646.2241 to reserve. I don’t normally advertise in my publisher’s column but want to share the magic of affordable oysters (at our cost) with our readership.
