RENFREW COUNTY (Pembroke) — The Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) East Region Community Street Crime Unit (CSCU) and Upper Ottawa Valley (UOV) OPP have seized illegal drugs and arrested two people in Pembroke.
At approximately 1:00 p.m. on April 21, officers from the UOV Detachment and Street Crime Unit conducted a traffic stop on Pembroke Street. They seized a quantity of suspected cocaine, along with equipment utilized for drug trafficking and over $300 in Canadian currency.
Major Charles, age 39 of Pembroke, has been charged with two counts of fail to comply with a probation order, CC sec. 733/1(1); possession of a Schedule 1 substance for the purpose of trafficking, Controlled Drugs and Substances Act (CDSA) sec. 5(2); possession of a Schedule 1 substance, CDSA sec. 4(1); possession of property obtained by crime under $5000, Criminal Code (CC) sec. 354(1)(a); and failure to comply with a release order, CC sec 145(5)(a).
Kelly O’Grady, age 39 of Pembroke, has been charged with two counts of possession of property obtained by crime under $5000, Criminal Code, sec. 354(1)(a); possession of a Schedule 1 substance for the purpose of trafficking, CDSA sec. 5(2); and possession of a Schedule 1 substance, CDSA, sec. 4(1).
Both accused have been released and are scheduled to appear at the Ontario Court of Justice in Pembroke on June 23.
