WHITEWATER REGION (Cobden) — A resolution was passed at the Council meeting of the Township of Whitewater Region on May 29, in regards to the allocation of funding to improve service, delivery and efficiency.

It was recommended for the Township to support the efforts of the Township of Bonnechere Valley for joint regional efforts with regard to efficiency. The allocation of $629,888 in funding received from the Ministry of Municipal Affairs & Housing was approved.

A detailed design Cobden Astrolabe Arena project will receive $175,000 and remaining streetlight upgrades to LED technology will receive $162,145. The allocation to reserves for future efficiency initiatives was approved at $94,988 and $35,000 will go towards the Cobden/Muskrat stormwater management review.

A development charges study will receive $30,000 and The Water & Wastewater Rate Study and corporate building energy efficiency upgrades will get $25,000.

The Beachburg/Cobden Growth Society, placing GPS in corporate vehicles, along with emergency operations improvements will see $20,000 each from the budget.

Information Technology improvements will get $10,000, a folding machine for purchase at $8,500 and a sidewalk evaluation of $4,255 rounded out the resolution.
