RENFREW COUNTY (Pembroke) — On June 22, shortly before 6:30 p.m. officers with the Upper Ottawa Valley (UOV) Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) responded to reports of a vehicle being driven in a dangerous manner on Highway 17 in Laurentian Valley Township, Ontario.
Officers attempted to stop the vehicle, but the driver failed to pull over. One OPP cruiser was forced off the road during the incident and multiple cruisers were struck, causing damage but no injuries.
The vehicle was stopped just west of Paul Martin Drive in the Pembroke area. One person was arrested at the scene.
As a result of the investigation, Mark Arnold OUIMET, 38-years old from Montreal, Quebec has been charged under the Criminal Code with: Dangerous Operation of a Motor Vehicle – CC 320.13 (1), Failure to Stop After Accident – CC 320.16 (1) and Flight From Peace Officer – CC 320.17.
The accused was scheduled to appear for a bail hearing on June 23, 2019 at the Ontario Court of Justice in Pembroke.
