WHITEWATER REGION (Cobden) — Ice left Muskrat Lake on Tuesday. This is around the average time for this annual occurrence. 

The earliest date on record is April 3, 2010. According to Mr. Jack McLaren, in previous years the lake saw ice leave on April 30 in 2019, May 5 in 2018 and April 20 in 2017. 

Muskrat Lake is 16.5 kilometres in length and has an average depth of 17.3 meters or 59 feet. The deepest spot recorded was 64 meters or 210 feet. The lake covers an area of 2962 acres with it’s shoreline measuring at 33.7 kilometres.
