Ivan Burton Appointed New CAO for Whitewater

COBDEN – At a special meeting held on June 27th at 9am, Council formally appointed Ivan Burton to the position of Chief Administrative Officer (CAO) for the Township of Whitewater Region. Burton replaces Robert Tremblay whose last day was June 24. Tremblay accepted the new CAO role at the Town of Renfrew.
Mr. Burton joined the Township in February 2019 and leads the Community Development Department. He managed significant projects that support the Township’s continued growth and development. Prior to joining Whitewater Region, he was a municipal planner with the Town of Renfrew and City of Clarence Rockland for 10 years.

Ivan possesses a Bachelor of Arts with Major in Geography and an Executive Diploma in Municipal Management. He completed the Municipal Administration Program with the Association of Municipal Managers, Clerks and Treasurers of Ontario (AMCTO). He is a member in good standing of AMCTO, the Canadian Institute of Planners, and the Ontario Professional Planners Institute.
Mayor Moore stated, “Council is confident that Ivan has the skills, experience, and acumen to lead the Whitewater Team. This is a great example of succession planning.”

Reeve Regier added, “Ivan is a relationship-builder, problem-solver and results oriented leader. I am confident he will ensure the Township continues to be a great place to live and grow.”

Mr. Burton commences his new role on July 11. Sean Crozier, Treasurer/Deputy CAO will serve as Acting CAO for a two-week period. The Manager of Community Development position will be posted immediately.

Mr. Burton added, “I am excited to have been selected by Council as the Township’s next CAO. I look forward to working closely with Council, staff, and the community to ensure our continued success and growth. The Township has a promising future and I know my skills, experience and training will help respond to challenges and opportunities ahead.”
