JAN WILLEM VAN DER GRIENT
Jan Willem van der Grient, 90, of Renfrew passed away on November 8, 2018. Jan was born in Abcoude, Holland on June 30, 1928. He came to Canada on September 7, 1951. Loving husband of the late Lena van der Grient (nee de Waard). Jan loved gardening, playing cards, writing poems and reading his bible.
He will be deeply missed by his children Peter, Sherrill, Dan (Linda), Casey (Beth), John (Wendy), and Elizabeth (Larry). Opa of ten grandchildren, Carly, Laura (Ryan), Paul (Christian), Tricia (Luke), Adam, David (Chloe), Courtney, Carter, Connor and Alli. Survived by sisters, Ans (Cees), Lena, Bette (Wim), Arya (Henk), Roza, Nieke (Pieter) and brother, Mario (Cara).
The family wish to extend their sincere thanks to Dr. John Matosh, neighbour Edna, home support workers, and caregivers at both Renfrew Victoria Hospital and Caressant Care in Cobden. All professional arrangements have been entrusted to the care of Zohr Family Funeral Home, Renfrew.
A Memorial Service will be held on Saturday, November 24, 2018 at the Renfrew Presbyterian Church 460 Raglan Street South. Service begins at 2pm with a light lunch to follow.
