WHITEWATER REGION (Cobden) — Tony Iob is the new coach for the Whitewater Kings.

He replaces Daryl Faught, who was the coach of the inaugural Whitewater Kings in the summer of 2017.

The mangerial staff thanks Coach Faught for his year-and-a-half with the Kings.

They noted that Iob comes with a “wealth of coaching experience.”

In hockey action, the Kings were quiet with only one game played last week, and that was Thursday, Nov. 1 in Ottawa and they were trounced 8-3 by the Ottawa West Golden Knights.

The Knights scored twice in the first; twice in the second and four times in the third for the win.

Scoring for the Kings in the second period were Keifer Levasseur assist by Brady Dellaire and Chad Moore assists to Dellaire and Liam Enright. The lone goal for the Kings in the third period came from Artyom Shiman, assist by Josh Hampel.

It was a rough night in the penalty box for both teams. The Kings racked up 45 minutes while the Nights sat out 31 minutes.

Kings’ goalies Anthony Kervin and Kevin Proulx shared duties between the pipes. Kervin suffered the loss stopping 28 of 33 shots while Proulx stopped 15 of 18 shots. Knight goalie Mitchell Brown took the win, stopping 23 of 26 shots on goal.

Stars were awarded to Knights Justin Jamer and Lucas Brown, with King Josh Hampel taking the third star.

The Kings managed 1/6 powerplays while the Knights took advantage of 3/9 powerplays.

The Whitewater Kings are at home in the Astrolabe Arena Saturday night, Nov. 10 against the Winchester Hawks with a 7:30 p.m. start.

They also play on Remembrance Day, Sunday Nov. 11, at home against the Ottawa West Golden Knights, with a 1:30 p.m. start.
