Rain today – but smiles all around (at least to start the day). We all had hopes that the rain might actually go away sometime during the day but we had no such luck. It is too bad really as the roads along the river were spectacular with all the little villages set right into the cliffs and the grape vines planted up the cliffs as well. Too bad I wasn’t able to get pictures as they were very picturesque. A stop for gas about an hour in allowed people to get either warmer clothes on or proper gloves on as it was still raining. Some even used the plastic bags to cover their gloves.
Around lunch hour we started looking for a place to eat – one was closed but we were able to go to this lovely vineyard resort (it appeared to be. It wasn’t busy and they were more than pleased to allow us tom come into their beautiful white marble floor with our wet clothing dripping and allowed us to hang our rain gear to dry and our helmets and gloves. The manager was great and he gave us two options with soup and salad – veal or beaf and pork. Everything was delicious. I believe one of the EPR members took their card so a proper thank you could be sent later as really they went above and beyond!
After lunch it was still raining but we felt refreshed and ready to get to the Harley Dealer in Strasbourg. The local HOG Chapter put on a great spread, pizza, beer or pop and three cakes in honour of the Posse Ride.
We were then escorted to the hotel by the local HOG Chapter and thankfully so as it was rush hour traffic and apparently in France you can go between the traffic which was a relief due to the fact that my clutch hand was about to fall off!! So we zoomed in and out of traffic (only in 1st of 2nd gear – don’t get too excited – we don’t ride those crotch rockets after all). Arriving at the hotel everyone had about 10 minutes to get ready and then a walk to the restaurant for supper.
Strasbourg is beautiful!! The small streets downtown and the cathedral – WOW. Upon our return from supper as we were walking we could all hear music and as we looked towards the cathedral it was a beautiful light show coordinated with music on the walls of the cathedral. How absolutely beautiful that was to see.
Upon arrival back at the hotel everyone headed to their rooms as the bar did not show the ‘football’ game and it was a good thing as we start back on the road again at 8:30. Now we are heading towards Biel, France tomorrow!
