COBDEN — The landscaping completed by Clouthier Construction following the major roadwork along Hwy. 17 last year between Wallace Drive and Cowley Street isn’t up to the standards of the property owners.
Chief administrative officer Christine FitzSimons said she and Rock Blaskovits from Jp2g Consulting are now supervising the work to ensure it is being done properly.
In her report to council, Ms. FitzSimons noted there have been several complaints regarding the restoration of front yards damaged by the Hwy. 17 construction. Mr. Blaskovits has been working “aggressively” on council’s behalf to get the work completed, she said. He is “personally supervising this project to ensure that everything will be completed :to the satisfaction of the affected property owners,” she wrote.
Ms. FitzSimons told council during last week’s council meeting, “We are talking one on one with the customers until they are satisfied. Once the work is completed , each homeowner will be asked to sign off.” She added, “This is taking an awfully long time.”
When Councillor Joey Trimm questioned if the township would be billed for Mr. Blaskovits’ time, Ms. FitzSimons said yes.
“This upsets me very much,” he said. “The contract was signed in good faith. I cannot understand why we are spending extra money for a job to be completed.”
Ms. FitzSimons said a discussion regarding this issue will be held during the next finance and administrative committee meeting.
