LA PASSE — A Sunday morning lemonade stand/homemade treats station in La Passe raised more than $300 for CHEO (Children’s Hospital of Eastern Ontario).
Jasmine Renaud, Emily Duffield and Ayla Lammi planned the four-hour event while travelling on the school bus to and from Pembroke this past year. They each had a list of things to do and prepare, and with the help of their parents, their plans became a reality.
They raised $321.00 in four hours for CHEO and will donate them through the Stand up for CHEO event being held in Petawawa on August 7.
People of all ages stopped by for a treat, many sharing their CHEO stories and asking the children questions about CHEO. Most gave more than the asking price, some didn’t want treats at all but just wanted to donate. One family stopped in their van to give the kids a bag of change. There was an e-transfer donation from someone who saw the event on Facebook. One kind gentleman drove by and said he’d be back… upon his return he stopped to speak with the kids about CHEO and generously put a $50 bill in the jar when given a glass of lemonade.
This was the second year in a row for the La Passe lemonade stand. The first year saw them raise $83, for which they were thrilled. Their goal this year was to raise over $100 – when the final count came in there were cheers all around!
The girls are already planning their stand for next year, which includes more flyers and notifications – but guaranteed to have the same energy, enthusiasm and yummy treats!
