Letter: A New Mayor

Its been a whirlwind this past week.  From the stressful lead up to election night and then getting the results Monday night.  I’m overwhelmed with the support from the community and am now looking forward to the next four years.

There are some acknowledgements I need to make.  It takes alot to put your name on the ballot, knock on doors and share your ideas.  I want to thank all the folks who decided to run.  I also want to recognize the work and dedication of Councillor Jackson, Councillor Mackay and Councillor McLaughlin.  They will not be returning to council this next term and we need to thank them for serving their community and making significant contributions to get us to where we are now.  The staff needs to be recognized for all the work that was done behind the scenes to ensure we had a smooth election process.  It was weeks and months in the process getting ready for this event; it went off without a hitch.  Lastly, I want to recognize all the help I had through the campaign period.  To my family for all their support and to all those who donated their time, effort, ideas, and funds – thank you!

Neil Nicholson, Mayor-elect for Whitewater Region
