Dear Editor:
An open letter to the provincial Minister of Transportation
Dear Mr. Del Duca
Minister of Transportation of Ontario
Thank you for the copy of your letter of May 25 to Renfrew-Nipissing-Pembroke MPP John Yakabuski.
And thank you, especially, for recognizing our concerns and suspending plans for a rumble strip to be installed in connection with Highway 41 rehabilitation in the Pembroke area. We appreciate being included in your concerns and recognize that we raised our concerns about Highway 41 very late in the planning process.
We also very much appreciate your staff consulting with the Active Transportation Working Group of the Physical Activity Network of Renfrew County, of which most of us are members, regarding rehabilitation work in the Pembroke area on Highway 148. We think this is a good example of how to work with people at the grassroots level.
Moving forward, we ask that your ministry continue in this positive manner by consulting our Active Transportation Working Group in the planning stage of all future highway development and rehabilitation in Renfrew County.
Thank you again for your action and concern.
Active Transportation Working Group members:
Damien McCarthy,
Co-chair
Ish Theilheimer,
Secretary
Ron Moss
Chris Hinsperger, President,
Ottawa Valley Travel Association
Ole Hendrickson, President,
Ottawa River Institute
cc: MPP John Yakabuski
