Dear Editor:
Last week Pembroke’s pseudo political analyst/commentator Doug Stoneman published a post-election article titled “Reasons why Harper lost the election.”
This convoluted helix of allegations, innuendoes and partisan rhetoric first came to my attention after being advised I was the object of a press attack, which upon reviewing, my low expectations of it’s merit were confirmed by its opening line, “I feel compelled to comment on two negative letters from Mr. Broome and Mr. Sheer which denigrate the word Conservative.”
Indeed Mr. Stoneman’s litany of cut and paste invective cannot be considered of even the remotest significance, as the preponderance of its selectively structured content consisted of excerpt’s from my letter of thanks to Prime Minister Stephen Harper and a recent article by a Mr. Sheer. Thus, I wish to make it clear that nothing Mr. Stoneman said regarding myself is a matter of consequence to me, nor by extension is it of any consequence to the 29,1945 County people who supported PM Harper.
As for Mr. Stoneman’s allegation I said “The only true Canadians are those that believe Mr. Harper is one of Canada’s greatest Prime Ministers” and “At the cenotaph recently he hoped I explained to everyone, and especially our forces who didn’t vote for Mr. Harper, that they are not true Canadians.”
Well, I said nothing of the sort, and will counter this malicious attempt to portray me as denigrating our military by saying, “I, sir can trace my ancestry back to the Norman conquest, where at the Battle of Hastings in 1066 our ancestors fought and were granted lands and titles as a result of their military exploits. And, from that time forward, my clansmen have fought in battles for King and Country across the entire British Empire. So, what’s in your wallet — a collection of scurrilous epistles penned by your ancestors deriding men of substance and distinction in the press?
As for your allegations regarding Conservative ads attacking Justin Trudeau as being PM Harper’s extreme devotion to name calling, character assassination and casting aspersions — these ads were harbingers of the future — whereas your blathering missive revealed your abysmal lack of situational awareness concerning the dire political events coalescing on our nation’s horizon, as well as your total dearth of the political acumen and analytical ability required to discern the repercussions thereof, to the point it simply beggars description.
Indeed, the entire tenor of your submission is such that even the most unsophisticated person would be loath to endure, as you furtively darted from one compositional inadequacy to another,, like a bed bug fleeing from the light.
As for your churlish inference concerning Mr. Harper and Renfrew-Nipissing-Pembroke MP Cheryl Gallant, I, sir, know our MP better than most, and you sir stand without excuse in your desperation to posture yourself as a political commentator by attempting to use Mrs. Gallant as a foil against Mr. Harper to legitimatize your marginal scribblings in the press.
Indeed I am happy to put your feet to the fire for alluding to Mrs. Gallant, who unlike you has respect for Mr. Harper, and thus has no need of any left handed mentions from one such as you, as she is quite capable of taking care of herself, who also unlike you has been defiantly outspoken about the cultural heritage, moral values, and spiritual foundation of our nation under liberalist assault.
Regarding your question, “What specifically did Mr. Harper do to deserve your accolades” my answer is “Having to ask that question you would not understand the answer” something 29,195 County voters understand well. And, as for my comparing PM Harper to Winston Churchill, even your next door neighbour can be compared to Sir Winston, if he is a man of honour and integrity, because greatness is not measured by one’s station in life, it’s measured by the righteousness of one’s character, integrity and resolve.
Thus there will be no further expounding upon my views concerning the evils of socialism to you, when its results are so glaringly self evident in Alberta and Ontario. Instead, as you have requested me to be constructive, I will begin by suggesting you restrain yourself and open your eyes, and not purpose to play games with me in the press, because at the end you will be left to play by yourself.
You also inquired of me “What does Socialist Variance mean.” These words can be found in Webster’s dictionary, along with the words “Reproached & Admonished.”
And, while you may posit that scrawling on a piece of paper will turn you into a writer, it’s exceedingly more likely that sitting in a hen house will turn you into a turkey, and after reading your commentary it’s clear such a miracle has happened.
